ive found a couple threads about this and i guess there all kind of sloppyish idk how far it actually moves its not in front of me at the moment im at work but ill be back at it soon as i get off at 6am

i installed my cam at 270,000 miles an timing chain was pretty tight, might wanna replace it

I recently cammed my 5.3 put a new oil pump and timing chain since i was down that far, the new chain actually had a little bit more play that i was expecting, and i dont remember right off hand but there is an allowance of how much it can move. It is probably fine.

yea the new one i put on had some play to but it was a little better hopefully my tuner calls me back so i can get it tuned tomorrow
