Time To Think About More Power!

Time To Think About More Power!
Getting married in three weeks (Oct 21st) and having a lot of bills I have not had the money to do anything to the truck. To give you an idea I had to sell my stock exhaust before I could buy my new setup and only have the new clutch because I found a killer deal on the combo.
Getting to the point:
I am wanting to do a cam/head swap on my stock 5.3L/T56 combo. I would like to keep the stock heads and send them out for mild atterations that will match my cam choice. I would also like to up the motor compression too, so milling them might be in there. Have know idea if I am on the right track here or not.
I have a T56 transfering the power to the rear and have heard that I can run a bigger cam then the automatic guys. I want the biggest cam I can get with a lot of lope (112)! I have no where to begin on what I need or should expect. Any help would be great! I was thinking a 224 with about .580 of lift and slight head work to match the cam.
I am using Nelson mail order tunes, so I would like to keep the tune easy. I have someone local that can tune for me, if it would be worth it to go to a hard to tune combo.
Any thoughts? What should I look for? Remeber that I have a manual trans! Cost will be the biggest thing for this project. I don't want to spend to much $$$!
EDIT: Rlanning on running 4.56 with a 28" tall tire.

I would think a bigger cam might even help you out. Cause you will loose low end and with the first gear might not let you spin as much, assuming you spin now iwth the 6 speed.
Im not a cam guru but for you I would think you could atleast get the 226/226 range maybe even more.

Thinks about going with a Comp Cams Xtreme RPM High Lift on a
228/230 .571/.573 112 then if you want alot of lope or a 222/224 .566/.568 112 will be more streetable. If you want more lift then get a set of 1.8 rockers.

Another consideration would be the small bore Edelbrock heads that WCCH offers. Price out the difference between a cleaned up 5.3 head and the Edelbrock ones. The 224 might be kinda big, but, I say go for it.
