Ok, cool. Is there a place where i could do some research on this procedure. I searched on here but didnt really find anything about checking clearances.

So your saying if all the rod bearings look good theres no need to replace them? what about if the main bearings look good also? Just strap it back together, or get new bearings to be on the safe side? Thanks for the help

if they all look good like those do, then thats not your problem. you may have a lifter problem, or something else. piston slap maybe.

 

An exhaust leak at the head/manifold can sound like a knock too

 

How many miles on your lifters??

 

Ha yes i know this, i am nearly 100percent positive that its not that.

The lifters have about 4,000 to 5,000 miles on them they are ls7 lifters. The reason I did not think it was a lifter is because the sound does not come from one side of the engine more than the other. It sounds like its coming from the center of the engine, but I guess that the lifters are nearly in the center arnt they.

 

If the rod and mains look good don't replace them as it would be wasted money. Have you pulled the cam to see what the lobes look like? Got a sound clip we can hear?

Bearing looks ok, but usually a rod bearing will go before a main. Like said above you need to polosh the crank when instaling new bearings if you want to do the job right. Good chance this could be the oil pump Oring and have nothing to do with your bearings. Id check that first.
