is that comp cams that you suggested above a custom grind, because its not here http://www.compcams.com/technical/Ca...07/172-175.pdf, on their site for ls1/ls1, 4.8,5.3,6.0 cams?

Lingenfelter cams are not that hard to tune. Atleast the gt2-3 isnt!!! Hell it runs on a stock tune. But pulls even harder when tuned! This is in a 5.3l n/a.

I'd say idle to 5800, since the stock cam is nearly that range (190/191), and this is bigger.

Regarding the wet blanket guy, Lingenfelter cams are cut by Comp, so I wouldn't worry about tuning, QC, or anything else for that matter. It sounds like he had a tuner who didn't know what he was doing.

I paid $350 for an almost identical cam from Cam Motion, and it worked great in my 5.3L Avalanche. I actually gained power off-idle with my stock converter. I never got it tuned, and I gained 15-20 RWHP across the entire powerband.

And the price is right for the Lingenfelter at $250.

Heres a question...
lingenfelter lists, as most companies do, the cam as an LS1/6 cam. Now, I know that cubes affect the 'radicallity' (yeah, you like that word) of the cam, going from a 5.7 to a 5.3 is not that big of a jump, so I imagine a 'good daily driver' cam for an LS1 is still good in a 5.3, BUT, does it increase the need for a tune?

The only cam I've talked about here, the GT2. And it gave me 12-15 RWTQ across the entire powerband.

I was the tuner but i had help from big tex and alot of other wise people from here, including nelson. It was a GT-1 in my 5.3 so it was going to be a challange, but what pissed me off most is when i called the lingenfelter guys and talked to there techs (3 of them) they all refused to provide any help. They all said "that cam is for a 5.7L, not a 5.3. You need to buy another cam." This is after i called before i bought it and they said then "it will be fine, there isnt that much difference between the 2 motors, though it will make better power in a 5.7." I just didnt like there customer service.
