Have you tried CamMotion? The intake lobe on your spec'ed cam is very similar to the exhaust lobe on mine. CamMotion may grind the cams for EPS since they are in Baton Rouge as well. Comp ground the cams for Thunder when Geoff was there so that is a possibility too.

btw.. I am very interested in your build as I am considering a similar build to help my Tahoe tow the truck a little better but with a 383 LS1 instead of an iron 402.

So after much soul searching, I sent my motor specs and realistic vehicle use to Patrick. Here are the results:

228/238 .571"/.585" 113 LSA, +4

This is based on 1.75" long tube headers into true dual baffled turbo mufflers with cats. I will have to upgrade my springs to PAC1518 units.

So we shall see how this works out!
thats a fairly aggressive cam IMHO for what you want and would personally consider something right at 220/230. Maybe 1slow01Z71 would have some insight on how that cam might act with the extra cubes.

honestly...... I would have said run a stock 6L motor with a TVS1900 @ 6lbs of boost and call it a day. With the stock stroke that motor will run for a long long time!

Just a quick update....

I ended up getting the cam from Crower. My family has been doing business with them since the late 60's plus they got it to me in 6 days. I ended up ordering a rotating assembly from Texas Speed. Got a 4" Callies crank, Compstar H-beam rods and Wiseco -8cc pistons. This will give me 403ci with 10.4 to 1 compression ratio. I had Lewis Performance do the block prep and take a slight cut on the heads to get rid of the factory 'corduroy' milling pattern. The springs were updated to PAC 1518 beehives. I have a blueprinted Mellin HP pump ordered from Precision Oil Pumps. The fuel rail has been modified for a fuel return pressure regulator and the intake has been fitted with a F.A.S.T. 92mm air door. The motor should come together pretty soon. For headers I am now leaning towards the Clear Image Tri-Y units with high flow cats.

Here are a few pictures:

I am switching to a 4l80E that was built by JW Performance to handle the extra power:

The AutoTrac transfer case is going and is being replaced by this 263HD 3 button unit:

I got rid of the 10 bolt diff. and replaced it with a 14 bolt SF out of an H2 with 4:10 gears and an Eaton E-locker:

And added my custom designed adjustable upper trailing arms and panhard bar:

And of course some Hummer H2 wheels with Chevy center caps:

You may be right but a 6.0 wouldn't be as much fun to build. Besides, I am re-living my youth and can afford it now. A MagnaCharger still might be in the mix later on!

Awesome build!

Just a word about this:

Crane probably thought you wanted .571"/.585" lift at the cam, not the valve like it is actually specified. If you divide that lift by the 1.7 ratio of the rockers, you get .336"/.344" lobe lift. If this is what they thought, its probably a good thing you didn't go with them anyway....

How are you going to shift that 263hd? I am getting ready to swap in a 4l80e that already has the 263. I have searched & searched on the internet & it appears this has never been done? If you get a 3 button switch & TCCM from a donor vehicle will you have to custom wire it?

I have pretty much given up & will have to mod my auto trac.

I have access to all the GM wiring diagrams and after doing some close comparisons, it appears it should be plug and play with exception that the PCM has to be reprogrammed for the 4L80E.

I have already acquired a NOS 3 button switch and a TCCM from a 2002 Silverado 2500HD that had a 263HD. So in THEORY it should all work.
