So whats everyones thoughts on there 402/408? Worth it for torque or would a 370 do just as well?

I had a 370 before my 408. The 370 was strong and ran great, i went 11.80's with it but the 408 kills it. It is violent power when you want it. Power everywhere, down low, up high, in the glove box, everywhere.

Yep, the engine itself is perfect.

Ya I will talk to Richard and see what he says, I need to call him anyway about some other stuff. I dont know maybe I should just do a Forged 6.0, I was just thinking if I was going to do it I should throw in a 4" crank and do a 402.

I was in the same boat before. I was going to build a forged 370. Then i decided if im buying pistons and doing machine work anyway, i might as well buy a crank and do a 408. Then i though "why spend all this money and choke it with stock heads", then i thought "all this power would be much more fun with a t56" lol

Best places to look within decent distance are East Coast Supercharging, or Dez Racing (SLOWHAWK on here). I just fought with the 370 v 408 question myself and elected to stick with the 370. Aside from my bad luck so far, the 408 wuda offered tons more torq, but since all my driving is hiway, and I have trouble sticking to 45mph on the sideroads the last thinkg I need is another reason to burn up at stop signs. Every time I drive up the road I attract the po-po...its gotten really dangerous to climb in the truck on my way home from a nite in the city!
Richard and Rex are the guys to ask. its all about proper ring and piston choice to avoid burning oil. Wrong pistons with too short skirts means the ring is too deep in the wrist pin and ring gap and choice make an even bigger diff. Eagle makes a great 4.005 stroker kit with JE pistons for $2625, Rex will prob steer u towards Probe with A&C rings (equally good). IMO go 408 if ur gonna hit the track alot and never have a beer when driving...go 370 if ur gonna put a turbo/blower, more daily driver/hiway...and never have a beer when driving! Just my 2 cents!

I've got a Scat Steel 3.75 (stroker) Crank, Eagle 5.7 SIR-I Beam Rods w/ARP cap screws. ARP main studs, Keith Black 10:1 Coated Hyperuetectic pistons. Internal & externally balanced, with a 8" racing damper and balanced flywheel.
