Question roller rocker questions HELP!

I am building a 383 stroker for my truck and my machinist said that he would recommend going with roller rockers. I know the benefits of roller rockers, but he said that he is going to stagger the ratios of rockers. Going with 1.6 on the intake and 1.5 on the exhaust. I have heard of this being done but I don't exactly know the benefits of running with this setup. I have a set of RHS heads coming and they have 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves in them already. Need some valuable info.

Thanks Josh

Unless you have a very special and unusual cam it is going to be ground for only one of those two ratios. Either 1.5 or 1.6, not both. You should know which one it is. Based on that you can figure out your lift by multiplying you lobe lift times your rocker ratio. Cams cost a lot less than roller rockers at least for LSX engines. Parts for SBCs are a lot cheaper. I don't think you can buy a set of roller rockers mixed half 1.5s and half 1.6s so you're going to have to buy both sets and let 16 rockers set on the shelf. That makes no sense at all. Better to just have Comp grind you a custom cam with the duration and lift you want for your intakes and exhaust and be done with it. Just tell them what ratio rockers you plan on using and they will grind the cam based on that value. That way you only have to buy one set of rockers and you'll still have the duration and lift numbers you want.

That sounds a lot better than what my machinist is recommending. He told me to check into this guy up in Tennessee called "Bullet Cams," he said that they use him a bunch for their engines that they build.
