Well I went though this a couple of weeks ago and I did not go with that head because they touch the combustion chamber and make it bigger. That kind of sets you back on a 5.3nand the other thing is that I don't like anything bigger than a 2.0 intake valve on a 5.3. Find out how much they were milled and we'll take it from there.

i don't like being shafted.. i should have just went with the 243's and had them milled/ported.

my tuner said he had these on another customers 5.3 with no problems. but since it was an l33, with the high compression already and him going turbo in the near future they needed to swap to different heads.

No, you have to stay with a 5.3 head. 243s are good heads but they start at 64cc so your better off with those for now. I would use 243s on a 6.0. The point is that IMO you have to start with a good 5.3 casting like a 706 and have them P/P but don't touch the combustion chamber then have them slap some 2.0 intake valves with a .045 mill. Oh and a custom grind cam.

these prc heads have an 862 casting. the valves are already at 2.04"/1.575".

what kind of custom cam am i looking at? i've already got a custom cam picked out, but it was already chosen before the heads came about.

The deck height clearance may be wrong... I know the others are correct. I found them on LS1tech when I was figuring out what heads I wanted.

I've heard of this guy on ls1 tech, Patrick G. You have to fill out a form and answer some questions. What cam do you have. Hell I ran my heads with the TSP 220R and worked great. My next upgrade was going to be a custom grind, but who knows. What stall do you have?
