Default pistons

are 4.8 and 5.3 pistons the same size

yup but the 4.8's are flat tops and the 5.3 are dished unless you get a VHO 5.3 L33 then they are also flat tops

search it. There was a thread on this a while back i think something is different about the pin size or location.

L33 5.3 pistons and 4.8 pistons have the same part number too.

No you can swap them out to bump compression. As mentioned the L33 5.3L pistons and the 4.8L pistons share the same part number.

I will save you the 4 pages of BS from that disscusion.
