Default over heating after underdeive pulley?

My truck started running quite a bit hotter now, instead of 180 it will get up to 220! And that's not normal for me at all it would never reach 210 before! I herd there's a special coolant that drops temps is anybody familiar with this?

well, you're not spinning the water pump as fast. I haven't heard that UD pulley cause overheating, but it's possible

Maybe you're thinking of Water Wetter. It's not a coolant, it's an additive said to lower coolant temps. I use it in all my snowmachines and also in my intercooler.

However, if your truck suddenly isn't cooling the same as usual, you really should troubleshoot and correct the real issue. Maybe a fan clutch issue, leak, sticking t-stat? Do some troubleshooting.

I've read of that being a possible drawback to UD pullies, just haven't read of anybody having problems on LS engines yet.

So far I checked my coolant level it's good and my clutchfan is nice and tight, it was fine untill I put the pulley on. I really don't want to take it off again LOL I'm thinking an electric fan might help, what do you guys think?

If you think the pulley is at fault, you could try going with a 160 stat, and 05 efans which will need the larger capacity 34" radiator, then set your fans to come on at 180 and off at 173...that should keep er running cool

you'd probably want the overdrive alt pulley though as the efans will draw some current...

Ok how much does that radiator/ fans cost? I didn't know I would need a new radiator

Do the 160 t-stat first.

Did you body lift your truck? Is the fan shroud still in-tact?

Only if you're doing the 05+ truck efans, LS1 style fans can use your current 28" radiator.

I am currently running 160 thermostat and yes myshroud is intact and lowered with the body lift.

Is there a huge advantage to going with bigger radiator? I'm thinking my options are take back ud pulley or add just electric fans, if a new radiator is needed to keep me cool il probinly just take the pulley back. Are all electric fans made equal?
