Default Which oil pump to get? Listed 4 choices

For my cam swap getting the final parts bought! for s 2001 5.3L

Stock LS6 oil pump $106 /no o ring

Ls series Melling oil pump $106 /with new o ring

SLP Heavy duty oil pump $162 /with new o ring

LS Series Melling Oil Pump (High Volume) $140

The cam is a 210/218 on 116Lsa with 1.8 rockers gives .584/.584 lift

My stock oil pump idles with around 40psi pressure dont really want 30psi or greater than 50psi at idle with the new pump

I'd go with the melling high pressure (it comes with a stock pressure spring). They are great quality.

Stock gm oil pump, IMO. I have seen more aftermarket pumps fail then a OEM unit. OEM pumps hold plenty of oil pressure IMO

the stock pump will do just fine the high volume ones are only good if you plan on running more oil like 8 quarts with only 6 quarts ive seen the pan get sucked dry at high rpms with a high volume in these style motors

Yea I was leaning towards the stock LS6 pump seeing as mine has 150,000+ miles and works perfectly. I just hate to have it off during the cam swap and not put a new one on, then 20,000 miles down the road it goes out. My dad has a 96 silverado stock with 330,000+ miles no oil pump issues. The old man refuses to get rid of that truck I guess he's to attached.

So is 4.8L 5.3L 6.0L truck/suv Ls2 Ls6 oil pumps all the same? I thought the Ls6 oil pumps had a lil bit more flow than the truck oil pumps.

I put a LSA oil pump in mine when I did the cam swap, idles with 45psi and goes to over 80 at 6000rpm. It's only like $90 from GM new.
