Oh and I have comp short travel link bar lifters so that's why I got the adjustable rockers. I've never set up PR length before so I was a little daunted by setting them up with the correct preload. Adjustable rockers make that easy. Especially when they call for a quarter turn of preload

Next time they go on they will get some blue locktite to ensure they don't back out.

Next time you have it apart swap your injectors from bank to bank and see if your trims change. As others have pointed out I am also a fan of stock rockers with a good trunion upgrade but yes they are gonna beat up your valve tips if over .630 lift

Forgot to mention I've done that too with no change after changing injectors from side to side.

Now that I'm not using the Holley Hi Ram, I may switch out that fitting for something that is more conducive for better flow - but one thing at a time. It's a process of elimination at this point.

Man I'm really not trying to bag on you so please don't take it that way. Just want to see you succeed with this build.

That said, if you do not know the in's and out's of valve spring set up, rocker geometry and establishing correct pushrod length, this is probably why you are having issues.

Might be wise to let a local engine shop take a look at what you have going on to see what the problem actually is.

I'll get there, it's a process. It's more important for me to learn than to just pay someone to fix it. That way the next build will be better. And don't worry I know I'm green to a lot of this stuff so I don't mind the criticism.

Pay someone to fix it and teach you how they did it.

Haha - don't worry I'll get it handled. Started in on the cam today and waiting for my 2 piece timing cover to get it all back together.

lol, if he lived near me, I'd buy the beer and make an attempt to get it fixed and see if I could show him what all was going on in there for free.

I'm watching this thread like a hawk, wanting to see how this long crank works out in the long run.

Well no beer or friends to help - I'm pretty capable, just takes a learning curve. Finally buttoned up the cam tonight. Haven't had a chance to put the Scanner on it to see what the trims are doing, but it idles and mid-range feels a lot better from the butt dyno.

I did a lot more reading on STFT's, Lifter preload, lifter failure, etc etc... and found that incorrect lifter preload can cause a lot of the issues I have been having. Not only that but the recommended preload from Comp for these short travel lifters isn't exactly correct. I had them dialed in at 1/4 turn preload, and they sounded like a sewing machine, very noisy. I'm guessing that wasn't enough and they were slacking out and causing pump up which can cause a loss of power and idle issues as well as play havoc with the STFT's.

Tonight I dialed them up with a half turn of preload and the engine is wisperly quiet. Nearly no valvetrain noise....I think I went in the right direction. I also changed my plugs to regular TR6 gapped to .030"

With the test drive I did tonight I think I made a good decision to swap the cam. I can't wait to get it dialed in and see what is does.
