Here's some pics of the oil filter at first oil change.

I put a little more than 200mi on the engine so far and I can feel it loosening up quite a bit. Definitely starting to feel stronger. I can't wait for the tune to happen. Under wide open throttle from first to second gear shift at 5200rpm is hardly thrilling but it is keeping me from beating on it too hard.

I'm using a K&N HP-2006 filter. Looks a little grimey to me. Hardly any iron content as I checked with a magnet. All the little sparkle bits seem to be aluminum as they weren't attracted to the magnet. I used coated bearings so I'm hoping that stuff isn't the coating and bearing material.

The method I used was to take the filter media and wrap it in a Scott towel and squeeze it in a vice to get all the oil out it to make it easier to see the particles. That's the visual difference between the black media vs the greenish media.

Other than being a little cleaner during assembly I feel it looks ok. I think it has too many shiny sparkle bits for my liking but I've never built an engine from scratch before so I'm not sure if that is normal. I'm waiting to compare it to the next oil change after the Dyno session. Hopefully there is less shiny bits. The engine has been in assembly stages for nearly 2yrs so I'm guessing the dust and dirt from Arizona may be to blame for some of that stuff too.

37 x 12.5 on a 17" wheel Running a 5:13 rear gear to try and help a little down low too.

My converter is super tight, was supposed to be a 3000 stall, but I struggle to get it to 2200rpm. When I fix the transmission, I'm having it re-stalled to something more like 3200-3500.

Those are still impressive numbers for a 37" tire especially if they're the 100lb general grabbers or bfg projects. 5.13's were definitely a good choice. I remember seeing a TT dyno with a 750hp engine that made low 600's to the tire once the power was passed threw the turbo 400 and heavy *** driveline. I want to say it was on 39" projects with a 6.00 gear. Just gives you an example of how much power is lost in the OffRoad world.

Yeah they are the Grabbers and power is being send through a Dana 60HD. My tuner said I'm probably seeing an 80hp less than an equivalent 6spd car. I still want that 500rwhp number even though I know it's not about numbers on a dyno. I'll be sure to run it through the 1/4mi too someday soon when it's not 120deg here in Phoenix AZ
