I mean why did the ring or rings get so hot they bound up against the ringland.
If you dont mind me askin where do the engine coolant temps run during and 30 secs after a full 1/4 pass?

Factory ring gaps were too tight, I assume. Coolant temp at the beginning of the run was 198, end of the run was 198. Only logged for 13 seconds after the run but it rose to 201 in that 13 seconds.

Thats too hot for a stock boosted engine.Im not sayin it was responsible for the rings because,im sure you could have adjusted the tune to accomedate the high coolants temps. Why so hot anyway?Dont tell me you like to have a hot heater.I know where you live.

It has the stock thermostat. Are a lot of the high HP guys swapping to colder thermostats?

Jake, was that the top ring, or the second ring? What did the other one look like?

Top ring. Other than some abrasion on the side, the second one looked fine.
