Smile Making a little progress

We just finished up my Mahle pistons. Mahle doesn't offer a dish top piston for the 6.0L so had to make my own. It was major pain in the *** but we were able to get 12cc total dish volume cutting the valve reliefs .065'' deeper, and making a 3'' X.050'' deep dish. We then had to take .007'' of the top of the pistons so I could get the quench I was after. This was my best attempt to replicate the factory piston, but stronger, with more dish volume without spending $1600.00. Piston weighs 419 grams, and the crown is still .210'' thick All I have left is the balance job, deck the block, port 1 new head, and the valve job.

Here is my custom 4032 12cc dish top Mahle piston

(Im not running those rods)

Looks good, nice work with the mill. What is your HP target, I am curious why you went with the 4032?

4032 is not a bad piston. I have used mahle's in a ton of FI apps and have put about 20psi to them. ITs a good piston as long as the other stuff is running right.

I didn't mean to make the 4032 sound like a bad piston, I was just wondering why he chose them over the 2618. He's been in the 10s on stock pistons, I'm sure these will be good for a little more.

Same power I was making before just more reliable, and still be a daily driver. I have heard a few 6.0/408's with 2618 and they were really noisy, and seemed to have a lot more blowby than a stock engine. I wouldn't be happy with that. Down the road with a bigger turbo, I/C, injectors, stronger trans, etc I might try and push it into the high 9's 370CI, boost only, working A/C and full weight.

Thanks! Ya the guy does good work, I have him do all my gas ports, valve notches, lightening etc. I don't know much about mills, just that it is a custom built 3 axis mill. He has 3 different mills.
