When I built my motor, I used the original stock bolts for checking all the clearances, then just bought a new set of stock GM TTY bolts to put it together with for the final time. The stock GM bolts are pretty cheap. I think even with stock bolts, the bottom end of these motors is still EXTREMELY strong
