Default ls1 pistons in a 4.8l

I know this has been asked before but I just want to clarify, I plan on boring my 4.8l to a standard LS1 bore and running a forged piston with a slight dish, I am going to keep the 4.8l rotating assembly I was want to make sure the wirst pin height is the same and the pistons will fit with out clearance issues
thanks guys sorry for the repost

I dont know for sure if the 4.8 rods and crank will work or not but the more common build is to use the crank and rods out of a 5.3, 5.7, or 6.0 which are all the same stroke just with a different bore. The 4.8 rods and crank have a different stroke than these motors.

I know the 5.3 and 4.8l share the same bore yet have different strokes, but if the 4.8l pistons 5.3l and 5.7l share the same wrist pin dimensions wouldn't that mean you could use them in the 4.8l (while boring the 4.8l for the 5.7 pistons)

Now that I think about it since the pin height is the same between the 4.8 and 5.3 then I guess that means it is the same as the 5.7 as well since it has the same stoke . However you will only get 312 cubic inches instead of 346 cubic inches if you use 4.8 crank and rods as opposed to 5.3 crank and rods.

It will work but you need to have the block checked. Not all blocks will bore that much. You also need to have the block deck checked. I have a block at the machine shop that has a low spot on one side of the deck.

After machining both surfaces flat and also so they will have the same deck height, The block is still useable but I have to run special head gaskets Or get custom pistons to achieve the proper quench area.

Its out of the truck, once its tore down its going to our local machine shop if it can be bored great if not oh well, I guess ill just have to go with the flow, if the pistons work great if not, I guess ill end up with a cast iron ls1, ill have the decks checked while its there
