Default LS Based V16 Prototype for GM by Katech

I just ran across an article posted on Katech's website that I find fascinating. I knew that GM/Cadillac had developed a 60 Degree V12 that was based on a DOHC Northstar Variant. This Northstar engine was used in several Suburban test mules.

However, I never knew about a V16 based off an LS series engine design. Take a look http://www.katechengines.com/street_...20Portrait.pdf.

God thats old news... but cool none the less GM actually entertained building an LS based V10 as well and at least publicly had shown a composite sample. The LS based 3 Valve truck heads looked promising too... but the valve train looked a little clunky. Imagine the way cool stuff that the public has never seen

The Cadillac Sixteen concept was NOT based off the Northstar. It was based off the LS6. Years ago I saw some of the cylinder head and block castings in Katech's booth at the PRI show. It was very cool.

Look at the fenders of the yukon! Do they look streched? Looks like there is a couple of inches added behind the front wheel well and door?

That is awesome, the test bed was a GMC Yukon too, so we know it'll fit in our trucks
