Default LQ9..what heads to use???

I purchased a used LQ9 engine. I figured since im in no rush to install it in my tahoe i should add a couple things here and there. Which cylinder heads out there fit this block and flow good numbers? I wanna use oem heads so aftermarkets are out the question. I'm planning on doing the 408 stroker kit. I saw some used Z06 heads on sale on craigslist for 500 complete with cam. Will this be suitable? Any input on this matter?

If you are doing a stroker, you need better flowing heads than stock. Call Richard @ WCCH about his stage 2 317s.

Z06 heads will raise your compression a good deal. Are you going NA or FI?

NA all the way....what i meant is stock oem castings. They will be sent out for porting. Aftermarkets heads are way too expensive and stock heads with good porting should be able to flow good numbers right?

What about the heads that come on the LQ9, are these junk? or will big valves and chamber work bring them up to shape?

317's are awesome heads -- almost don't need porting for stock cubes, but for the 408, you need the extra flow.

Talk to Richard @ WCCH
