LQ4 Sled Pulling Race Engine Build
#11
I would assume I can use the NNBS Intake Manifold for my build and that was my plan for this winter. Not sure which throttle body is best for that, must be OEM throttle body as well. I know I will need to get a custom cam spec'd out as well, and one of the issues is picking a cam that will get me to the RPM I want to turn without running out of torque when the weight hits me hard going down the track.
Not trying to spend oodles of money Atomic, but looking to do this build properly once. I was hoping to spend around $3,500 for the engine build over the winter. My other issue is the Canadian dollar, which will have me scavenging for parts at a good deal.
What was your plan Atomic? Assuming I stayed stock crankshaft but forged rods and pistons, what do you think 243 heads would support for horsepower? To be competitive in the class I will be running, I will need to be in and around 600-650HP at the crank

I've also been considering L92 Heads since they are an OEM Cylinder Head and I have seen many good results from these cylinder heads on LQ4 Blocks.
I read somewhere previously that someone built an LQ4 with L92 Heads, an L76 Intake, LS7 Injectors (Similar to 8.1 Marine), Custom Cam, Stroker 408 Crank, Mahle 4.065" Pistons, and H Beam Rods and made 650 Horsepower. What about this set up but more compression and more race fuel. 700+?

You can keep your heads and just upgrade the gaskets and head bolts and with a cam and cast 80mm borg you can make 900 or so. Upgrading the rods and pistons isnt a bad idea. On e85 with a good tuner and turbo kit to use the stock manifolds its not a problem.
Are power adders allowed in your class?

Nitrous, Turbochargers, and Superchargers are all out of the question. Meth or Nitro Meth are also questionable, they haven't written a rule for that class yet disallowing it but may if I ask. I would like to do a Methanol Truck However, sure seems like it would be cool to do something a little different.
