LQ4 Build Help?
#1
I have a 2004 Silverado 2500HD With the LQ4 6.0l.
I plan on running a TSP Torquer v.3 Cam 111 LSA spring and push rod kit.
Do I need different heads or can I run factory heads with different springs?
Also what stall will be best for this cam?

That cam will need a stall and its a little aggresive for a truck. Ya it will be choppy at idle. It will have no power down low and the truck intake will choke it down at around 6K. I run a 3200 stall on a 114 LSA and i think it needs a little looser. Those heads are fine to use. If you want to change heads i would go with a L92 head. I should give ya 100hp more.
Best bang for your buck IMO.

Something that a lot of guys seem to neglect when choosing a big donkey dick cam, is the effect that all of that overlap will have on your dynamic compression ratio. The heads themselves will work, as far as ports and flow (even though a good port job and some bigger intake valves would definitely be beneficial), but to get your dynamic compression ratio back up where it belongs, you'll want to mill the heads as much as possible before intake alignment and/or ptv issues occur. You'd probably be better off going with some 243's or something with a smaller combustion chamber. Also, as mentioned, you're going to want a lot of torque converter as that cam won't make decent power until probably over 3500.
I'd think that a heavy 2500 HD would respond better to a milder bumpstick, especially if you don't want to touch the heads or have any plans on bumping up the compression ratio
