sorry bluecajun5.3
Thanks for all of your help
dcr = Dynamic compression ratio
scr = static compression ratio (I believe)

I know a little bit about what they mean but I'll leave it to someone who knows more about it to explain it. But basically dcr is one of the most important things when building an engine. It takes into account of few variables that ultimetly determine your true cr.

PS if you don't wanna wait google it and read up on it.

the motor wont be put together for another 3 or 4 months so i'll have a lot of time to think about this whole cam.
I already answered that. 243s on an LQ4 with .040 gasket will be ~ 10.5:1.

but i thought it was IF i milled them

i'm sorry ZR1 DREAMING

that's a good enough compression for me.

can i go with a 7.4 push rod or would i have to get a shorter ones for either one of those cams?

HOLY POOP!
i just want 13s

Quik's post to KB:
well on a LQ4 you would be at 10.5 with 243s, if you would put on a set of 5.3s heads that would take the CR up around 10.9
i think those heads are 61cc

so .015 would get you down to that CC roughtly you can go .030 and take yourself down to 59cc roughly

i'll keep the heads stock because 10:5 is a good compression on a street motor right?
or do you think i should get it to 11:1?

Thanks

i was thinking about one of these two also:

230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA
or
224/224 .563/.563 114 LSA

like i said, i really don't know what cam to get, but i do know that i want a noticable idle and a good cam to go with my 3200 stall.

gears will be unknown because i'm going to run it on the stock 3:42s if i don't like it then i'll see how the 3:73s will do

That would be dictated by the cam valve events.

ok, so basically pick the cam that i want and then decide what gaskets i want then find out the compression after you take what the cam/head gaskets/heads will give you then you decide to change gaskets or mill heads however much to reach what compression you want?
wow that was probably the STUPIDEST sounding sentence i've ever typed.

sorry if you don't understand what i'm talking about because i honestly don't either.
