my truck has the exact same noise. my engine has about 18k miles on it. I dont think its a lifter, I more agree with reddevil. the oil thining out. I thought the pushrods were the cause of this noise.... I have 7.4 pushrods, and everyone is saying they need to be longr!!!

grumpy, i dont think the oil thinning out would be much of a problem if the lifter wasnt already not so good... i never used to have this problem before and i have always driven long distances so i would be willing to think its both in combination...yea, hopefully its a cheap easy fix...

I normally run 10w-40 in my truck during the summer just because od the heat... it doesnt thin out quite so fast. in the cooler months I run 10-30... my motor runs pretty quiet with the heavier oil in there... try some 10-40 out IMO
