Default Looking for a cam!!

I have a 2008 silverado ext. cab. I have long tube headers, cold air kit, borla exhaust and a tune. Im looking to put a cam in it. I have been looking at Brian tooley truck cams. Im not going to put a converter on it (yet) but i want something with a pretty decent chop in it. Im looking at getting the BTR Stage 3 Truck cam. (218/224 .556/.556 Lift 112+3 LSA) Is it too much without a converter?
Thanks, Austin

tell us more about the truck.

Body, driveline, other mods, gears, tires, and what you hope to accomplish with the cam. Any preference on where shift points land? You say no converter yet, but when you do pull the trigger, any idea what you would want?

We can offer guidance on all that stuff, but really cant help with cam specs without having some sense of direction.

Cool. So the truck is my daily driver, The only mods i have on it now are listed above. id like to be around 400 hp at the crank. and I dont really have a preference about the shift points. But if i had to get a converter i would probably get like a 2400 stall.
My dad has a Z06 that makes 650 at the tire and he wont put me on the insurance. The car sounds amazing at idle. It has the BTR stage 4 racing cam in it. I just want the truck to sound good and be something fun to drive.
Thanks, Austin

Is it a 5.3? Extended cab? 4x4? I need a sense of how heavy the truck is.

We can wake it up a little.

Some of the tooley cams would do a good job for you.

Alright, I'm getting in on this and semi-hijacking. I'm deployed and it'll be a while till Im home. So Ive been researching, plotting, and planning for when I get back. Truck has just shy of 200,000 on it. The 5.3 feels good but tired. Long term I think I'm going to swap and recodition my crank and rods into a new LS2 block with some forged flat tops. The more I see and research the BTR stage3 truck cam, the more I like it. And tell me if Im wrong but it looks like it would be fun in the 5.3 at first and swap nicely into an LS2 down the road. I do also have a Yank TT3000 still in the box in my garage.
