Default A little math help...

Trying to figure out what the lift would be on a cam with .551/.551 (1.7 factory ratio), and 1.8 rockers. If someone has a formula that I can use for future reference, I'd greatly appreciate it Thanks guys

Lobe gross lift = .551/1.7=.324

Lift with 1.8 rockers = .324x1.8=.583

Or you could do:
1.8 (new rocker ratio) divided by 1.7 (grind ratio) =1.0588235294 X (multiply by lobe gross lift) .551 =0.5834117646. Same thing, just a different way to get there. I use the other method over this as it is easier to use with multiple rocker ratios.

LOL, sorta...actually I almost just PM'd you instead of starting this thread. Still making future plans for the LQ9, and have been looking at the Crane/Vinci Stangbanger (220/224 .551/.551 114), and the Crane Gold 1.8 rockers. Those damn rockers are expensive for sure, but I'm totally impressed with them and like the fact that you can get the lifter preload dead on. The price is justified considering everything that comes with them though (rockers, studs, pushrods, guideplates, poly locks). Vinci has them on sale pretty often also, usually for about $100 less than I've seen them everywhere else.

There's a new grind on Vinci's site that I like the looks of also, the "Street Master": 222/228 .585/.585 114. If I went with something like that, I'd probably stick with my current Harland Sharp 1.7's. I know that most guys will exclaim that these grinds are "too small" for a LQ9, but I feel that considering the stock truck intake, my 2.5" collectors and y-pipe, and 3k converter, that something along these lines would suit my needs.

I was checking Crane's website, and they don't list the specs for the "Street Master" as one of theirs, although they do have the same grind with .551 lift. I'm guessing that the high lift version is a Vinci exclusive. Kind of a bummer, as I'm pretty sure that if, when the time comes, I hook up with my dad, he can get the stuff straight from Crane for me at his price Oh yea, BTW, Crane recommends at least 10.5:1 compression with the 220/224, and 10.8:1 with the 222/228...and their compression recommendations go up as their durations go up

I'm pretty soured on the Comp stuff, as much as I'm impressed with their XER and LSr lobes, but really want to stay away from their products from now on. The Crane/Vinci stuff doesn't get as much recognition as I believe that they deserve, probably due to their smaller marketing budget. Everything that I've seen from Crane/Vinci has performed excellently and flawlessly, as I'm sure you know from first hand experience. I was so impressed with the ASP-Kicker in tdrumm's truck every time I got to drive it...for fairly mild specs, that cam pulled like a **** in his 5.3

I'm pretty sure you can have Crane grind the cam to your specs.
