Default L33 block deck height

Does anybody know the actual block deck height of the aluminum L33? Has anyone ever had theirs measured? Also, what is the maximum safe bore size for these blocks?

I think you meant 9.240. At any rate, I've seen measurements for some 5.3 blocks as being 9.230. I'd like to make sure before I order pistons.

Also, does anyone know what the differences are in the l33 block (gen III) versus the LH6 block (gen IV)? I've read that some sensors were relocated... anyone know which ones? Are there any other differences?

Correct, the cam and knock sensors moved between the Gen3 and Gen4 engines. Most all of the iron blocks that come through here are 9.235-9.240"....however the finish work we see on bare blocks straight from GM has declined over the past few years, so we deck EVERY block that comes through to ensure the deck is flat and at a lower RA. I'd go ahead and plan to deck it to 9.230 or 9.235"" and build accordingly with the confidence in knowing that you'll have a great head gasket seal and pistons that are exactly x.xxx" above or below the deck for calculations purposes.

Awesome guys! I looked at the block today and found these #'s:
5.3l
P44894
330202075

Does anyone know if this would be a gen III or IV? Those were the only #'s I saw.
