Default Installing injectors

Well I've got my 02 injectors on thier way and was just wondering if I could install them before I get my 02 pcm in. Would I see any gains? How hard is it to install injectors? Any info will help. Thanks

Extemely easy to install. Take off the Vortec plastic cover, and the bracket under that. You'll see the fuel rail. It has 4 bolts. Take 'em off. Then...

Smart way: take off the accelerator cable, move stuff out of the way, take fuel rail completely off, swap out injectors.

The way I did it: pull the rail up some, then shove your hand in there, pull out each injector while skinning the hell out of your knuckles, swap in the new ones.

I suggest you put a little clean engine oil on the new injectors before you shove them in; also, make sure you relieve the fuel pressure first, I just took the gas cap off and then pressed that watchamacallit thing near the oil fill cap with a screwdriver. Oh, and don't do this while smoking.

Not sure about what gains to expect, probably not a whole lot.

I did mine before the PCM tune...didn't notice any change good or bad, but I assumed that it must have ran slightly rich since the PCM was still duty-cycling more for the smaller 99 injectors.

It was a while ago when I replaced them, so I'll see if I can remember the procedure.

1) Loosen gas cap to relieve pressure
2) Unplug all injectors...there are 2 steps to this. first, undo the grey plastic retainer, then you can depress the black tab to release the connector
3) Unbolt fuel rails, but do not remove fuel line to rails
here's where I start to forget how I did it...
I think that I tugged on the fuel rails and the injectors came out of the manifold, but stayed in the rail. Each injector has a retaining clip to secure it to the rail, if I remember correctly. With the clips removed, the injectors will still give you a fight coming out....they're in there pretty tight!

Once the injectors are out, I suggest a small coating of Vaseline on the o-rings of the new injectors to help them slide in easier. Pop injectors into rail (make sure they're straight and that the 0-rings aren't rolled over), and install retainer clips. position rails/injectors in manifold, and slowly tighten down the bolts.

Start er up, check for leaks, and wait for your tune to arrive to have some real fun

Hope this helped....it's been a while, and I'm half asleep right now, but I did my best

This is the easiest way dont forget to lube the orings on the injectors so they slide in easy

Yea, check to make sure they are seated all the way best you can and the o-ring is not rolled or pinched. It sucks to get it all back together and then hear the leak from the o-ring you cut during install. Lubricant is your friend in this project.
