Nice work bro, seems to me that kinda settles it. Sucks if he was lied to and got the 4.8. But in any case they are the same block right? I'd just bore that bitch out or swap in a LQ9 like the rest of the boys said. And while your at it WCCH------> does sell heads, they do more than just porting them out.
Also...I'm wondering if I brought your truck over...last year I was sailing on a RoRo(car carrier) and we brought a bunch of GM's over to the middle east, dubai and Kuwait. I know they build them a little differently like TurboGibbs said because of emissions restrictions and I hope for your sake they threw in the 5.3.

TURBOGIBBS...shouldn't there be a stamp on the block itself indicating what the Displacement is? I know mine had 6.0L stamped on one of the end of the block.

That is because the 6.0 is a different block. As far as I know the 4.8/5.3 is exactly the same block

Unless someone swapped a 5.3 in thre and it was used, the 8th digit being V is a 4.8

The 4.8/5.3 blocks have "4.8/5.3" cast into them where the 6.0's have "6.0" cast in. The only difference in the 4.8 and 5.3 so to speak is the stroke on the crank but as a result the rods and pistons are different as well.

What the guys at the dealership say is meaningless, it's only the order guide that matters.

A salesman at my dealership said that GM didn't have a 1500 smallblock truck engine larger than 6.0L and told me to do my research before walking into the dealership and making requests. Apparently he 'knew' GM's model lines inside and out and was an expert at the matter.

Meanwhile a GMT900 Denali was sitting outside.

Hope it all works out bro, I don't know what the deal is over there but hopefully you can get your money back! And if not this would be a perfect opportunity to get yourself a 6.0L swap in there...hell might as well make it a 7.0L!!!

must be nice to buy a truck with the sole intention to be to kick one guy's ***...!!! I'd go for the 6.0L option if they offer it.
