Default I need some Help From you nice People...

Well now I got you on here, Here's whats up. I've got a 5.3 that i just picked for my project I'm working on. I'm building it for weekend use or road trips or maybe the occasional drag night. I'm looking to be in the ballpark of 450hp. I will be running the carb setup with eddie LS performer intake with a Holley 750 vac secondary carb. Long tubes, The MSD 6010 box, this is all ive got so far. Now is where I need y'alls help. I'm still new at these engines dont know what to use for cam, head etc. Please give me some pointers. Can I use 6.0 heads? I know about the LS6 springs up to 580 lift but what is the best cam? Do I continue using the factory 5.3 lifters and rods? Thanks for playing along....

What is it going in? Most would agree you would be better off sticking with fuel injection over a carb setup. 450hp out of a 5.3 is doable very easily if you go FI. 5.3 with cam/boltons and 100 shot will make those numbers easily and be reliable.

There are just some vehicles you can't put a fuel injected motor into, I have one of those, so I know where Bowtie03 is coming from.

Bowtie03, are you going to be sticking with the stock pistons or during this rebuild do you foresee tearing the whole thing down and starting from scratch?

Okay sorry guys, Traded the 5.3 for a lq4 block with Ls2 internals long block. Gonna be building on it instead.
