Default I need help lol. ( new to this ) don’t bash me.

I have a 2009 “ police pursuit “ Tahoe with the 5.3. I’ve recently installed the Brian tooley DOD delete. Ls6 valve springs, lS7 lifters, stage 1 truck cam, new oil pump, valve seals, changed the 1 bolt cam gear to the 3. Truck started and ran for a little while & once shut off when hot it doesn’t want to start again. ( I figured it was a tuning issue ) I bring it to the tuners he throws a base tune on it to get it to run so he can put it on the dyno & it won’t start for him. He checks for codes and is getting a cam pos sensor code. ( currently he’s ordering a new sensor for it ) everything seems mechanically correct & I might be jumping the gun it could just be a bad sensor but does anyone have any knowledge on this ??? Please help lol.

You need the LS3 front cover. Did you order a VVT delete kit also or just the DOD kit?

Why would he need a new front cover? I’ve done numerous AFM/DOD deletes and never once had to change front covers.

I probably assumed wrong in the fact that he went from a single bolt cam to a 3 bolt cam that he deleted VVT also, in which case he would need a different front cover. I guess the better thing to ask would be if the cover/sensor/and cam gear are all correct to work together. Example being a 4x sensor and cam gear with a ls3 front cover.

okay, I see what you’re saying; if the motor had vvt and he deleted the AFM/DOD without changing the front cover to a ls2/3 style, then yeah the cam sensor would not work when using a non vvt cam. The reason being, the vvt front cover places the cam sensor too far out from the cam gear.

Hey guys, I actually had the wrong cam gear, I had a 3 bolt 1x i switched it to a 3 bolt 4x and got it tuned it put down a little over 300HP to the wheels & 320tq but now I have a slight misfire and can smell raw fuel. Fuel pressure is good. Maybe one of the injectors got messed up while working on it? Should I replace the injectors ? I need all the help I can get lol.

Replace the o-rings and check the line going to the rail.

You shouldn't be out flowing the injectors on a 5.3 being a 2009, they are fairly large for the size engine even stock. So replacing the injectors is kinda pointless.
