Default HELP: In need of a 5.3 short block, Suggestions Please

Short story:
I need a short block for my 07.5+ ccsb 1500 2wd with the LMG series engine.
Not looking to go FI in the future.
Not shooting for hp power goals.
Just need a company with a solid reputation that is willing to stand behind their own products and the products they sell. Id really like to hear from anyone with personal experience.
My budget is maxed out at $2500.

Long story:
The top end was just rebuilt by a highly reputable individual, truck was tuned by a highly reputable shop, but unfortunately was given a defective high flow GM oil pump. Stuff happens...that’s life. This was intended to be a quick ordeal instead of doing a 6.2 swap. Not the case, moving on.
Fortunately all the new parts listed below are fine:

DOD delete, cleaned up and rebuilt 243 heads w/ dual titanium valve springs, 7.4 chromoly push rods, ls3 rockers, ls7 lifters, ls6 timing chain, solid tensioner, and a custom grind cam. That’s about it unless I’m forgetting something.

If it matters:
Trans is a built 4l65 w/2600 stall
14 bolt s/f with 373 gears

Right now I’m looking for options, suggestions, and opinions. My decision needs to be made and get this short block in my truck asap because my wife is due June 12 if we’re lucky.

All and any help is greatly appreciated. Gotta get my truck back in the road ASAP.

Are you asking about a new stock 5.3 engine or used options?

The LMG or even the LC9 aluminum blocks would swap right in. A junkyard engine is possibly the quickest option in your short time frame.

Asking for new.
Close to stock or over built for durability/longevity. This is my DD and Work truck and it gets used hard.

I see your point. Nothing against junkyard engines. I figure if I’m going through all this trouble already I’d like the piece of mind of something with 0 miles.

Your $2500 budget is going to be your issue.

Contact SDPC and see what they have. I bought a Gen 4 aluminum 5.3L shortblock through them.

Yup. $2500 for what I need..is a lot to ask for.
The balance between time/money/longevity is killin me... personal acceptance of the situation is necessary.
I’ll have to wait 6-8 weeks most likely (time) to get a quality build going (money) so I don’t roll the dice on a short block that MIGHT last (longevity).

Will look into SDPC, thank you!

I actually received a VERY reasonable quote from Thompson Motorsports. Their customer service is top notch as well, and that is worth mentioning. They were the only company to ask in depth question to make sure what they were selling me would fit my needs...and quite literally in my specific truck. Even down to the last few digits of my VIN to ensure the engine they were quoting was going to be a direct fit.

It’s worth sharing that experience IMO

I'd check with Texas speed as well. I'd run one with confidence

That's a GEN 3 motor. He will need a Gen 4 for the ease of replacement.

Correct sir. Thank you for the help guys, I’m getting close to finding something even if I have to wait.

Quick question while I’m at it, SDPC has an ls3 stock short block in stock that falls close to my budget..
will that Work with my 243 heads and factory 5.3 truck intake?
The research I’ve done thus far says “yes” the heads will work but nothing on the intake, or anything else I’m not thinking of. Will I need another tune as well? It already has the DOD and AFM removed in the current tune, and I would put my current custom grind cam in the ls3 as well.

Again, thank you guys for being helpful. It’s greatly appreciated!
