Default help! more cam swap questions ls6 cam

Ok i need some help, i wanted to do a cheap cam swap in my truck, 99 z71 5.3. but its DD so i bought an 02 ls6 zo6 cam. well come to find out the base circle is changed for that cam and they used diffrent pushrods then all the rest of the ls1s and a bunch of other crap. so has anyone done this swap or shoud i just resell this one and get an 01 and older ls6 cam? because that i know people have done without problems. the reason im going factory is i work at a dealer so i can get a new cam for alot less then like a crane or something. im trying to do this as cheap as possible as i dont have much money to play with but still wana go faster. any info that anyone has would be extremely helpfull. thanks in advance, Austin

I have to say if your going to do a cam swap to just go ahead and get new hard rods for it, not have to worry about anything.jmo

So thats all i need? well basides springs of course. and your sure standard length will work even though they changed them in the ls6 motor? no clearance issues or anything? do i technically even need them for that cam? or stock 5.3 wont handle it.

You need the 7.4" hardened pushrods. You also need springs; if you're interested, I've got some used ls6 yellow springs and new ls2 springs; either will work.

You can use your stock pushrods. LS6 and LM7 Pushrods are the same GM part number. LS6 Springs would be a good idea.
