With comments like this, this why I don't post post very much on this board. 3000........3200..........thats real tight. that thing otta flash to 3400 with a good head and cam combo. A dyno queen, yeah it put down the numbers and ran with the 2wd guys. Still have the record for the fastest 4wd 5.3 n/a too. So a dyno queen and ran like a bat outta hell........best of both worlds huh.

Uh no, but your acting like hes wanting to put a 228 or bigger in there. Its no different than a guy on here putting in a 228 or larger in a 5.3 versus a 224 or larger in a 4.8. V8 had a 228 or 230 cam in his 5.3 and some people would say that its too big......but hes ran a very impresive time with that "BIG" in there. You know, you win, I'll let you have your few minutes fo fame. I'm not going to get into a big debate with you. The original poster can make his own decision.

I'm running a 228R in an ECSB 5.3, so I know all about decent size cams. But I'm also running a much looser converter than a 3000.

And my comment was towards the guy suggesting the 228R, but the 224/228 110 that you posted wouldn't be much better.

for those mentioning the 224 in the 4.8...the cam sounded VERY extreme and the converter used was even more extremely loose. there were always idle issues with the truck although tuning has come a long ways since then. personally, i think a smaller cam would have made the same results with 01thunders truck.

drivability is relative, and youll get a different answer from everyone out there. i like the sound of a TSP 220 in a 4.8. solid cam without over doing the converter or CI. tuning shouldnt be a huge issue either. then again...who am i to say? do your own homework!

thanks guys for all the replys! really apreciate it.

i am definately looking for something in the 220 range and under. that is what i wanted to go with before i posted the thread just wanted to see what kind of specs you guys were running and what kind of times you guys had with certain cams. i dont want anything too aggressive so i think a come 220 and under will work very well with a 3000 circle D which i herd is actually somewere around 3200. hopefully it will break in the 13's with some 26' drag radials...
