Default Help with 4.8 to ls6/Ls2 Engine Mods

Hello i have a 2004 4.8L Silverado so for i have Prodyno cold air intake, JBA Titanium Headers, Magnaflow cats, True dual flowmasters, and Hp Tuner. I am now thinking of turning my engine into an ls6 based engine he what im thinking about doing.

-Swap out my stocks head with ls2 heads(will they fit on my LR4???)
-Swap out my stock intake manifold with an ls6 intake
-Put some Compcam 1.7 rockers and springs with a .600" lift.

Now where i need help what type of camshaft should i get? an ls6 camshaft or a compcam truck performance camshaft? also what size pushrods and lifters should i use with which cam? Thanks for your help

before you buy anything, you need to take some time and do some research on this site and maybe some others to find out what parts will get you the same or better performance for cheaper.

what do you want performance wise and driveability wise out fo the truck. and is it a reg cab ext. cab or crew cab

ok, are you dead set on a aluminum block or would you consider an iron block

you do plan on some kind of forced induction, right because without a fully built 402 or 408 stroker you wont have 450-500 rwhp

if you are going to get another motor id say go ahead and get it

personally id get a LQ4, you can get them at junkyards for around 1500-2000 for a longblock( includes everything you need except for a few sensors that are already in your truck)

then add all boltons, cam and your FI and you have right at 500rwhp right there and about 350-380 rwhp without the FI

unless you go nitrous and then you would have a different build
