Default Heads and cam combo?

I have seen plenty of threads about cams but I am looking to get heads and cam. I have 05 silverado ss awd stock. I am looking to stay reasonably streetable. Ideas of combo's and possible hp would be appreciated.

Heads and cam package from texas speed. go with the prc 2.5's 5.3 heads with the tsp220 cam, that will run you about 1700 for the heads and cam package.throw some longtube headers 410's and 3600-4000 stall and you will be moving

He has an LQ9 in his SS so his compression ratio is already around 10:1. Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't 5.3 heads make the cr a little too high. A set of ported 243's might be a better idea.

check the sig. Good healthy setup, I love it. I am sure I could've had more, but I didn't feel like changing the converter.

Thanks guys. Will I gain a substantial amount of hp from changing my heads or is a cam alone worth it? Not sure how good the stock ss 6.0 heads are. Also I found some headers on here "American Racing 1 7/8" Are they worth the $? I have seen many cheaper brand new brands. I'm not familiar with any newer chevy stuff.

My opinion is, for now just get a good off the shelf cam like a TR224, leave the heads alone and enjoy it for a while. When it comes time for more power, get a set of ported 243's and get a cam custom spec'd to those heads(and their flow figures) and the rest of your setup. This is eventually what i plan to do. Right now i'm just keeping an eye out for a killer deal on a good set of heads.

The heads on your LQ9 flow pretty well from the factory. I would upgrade your cam, stall, and long tubes before I thought about touching the heads. If you really want to do something with the heads, you could probably have a valve job and slight milling done locally for way less than a new set of heads. If your pockets are a little deeper, get a set of ported 317's or some aftermarket heads like AFR's or Trick Flow's.

just do the trans mods/converter. anything else you do will require some trans mods...so do it first. A converter will wake the SSS up for sure. I would do cam/heads together since they will determine certain things that have to do with each other: cam lift=springs...and both will require a little stall to get the best. I have done the cam only swap only to do it again.
