first of all...id like to know a little more bout the internals of these ls series motors...iv got the 4.8 and ive been told they come with hypereutectic pistons, and ive also been told forged...if someone can please tell me what the rods, crank, n pistons are and wether its forged or not itll be greatley appeciated...next question was im most likely going to do a cam swap down the road...thing is i have no clue what revvs these rods can handle safely...if someone could also chime in on that itd be great

They do not come forged from the factory. Otherwise all the FI guys with stock engines would be shaving 1-2 seconds off their 1/4 mile times The 4.8s can rev much higher than the rest of the stock LS-series motors because they have the shortest stroke...7000+ rpm isn't uncommon. But as always, you'll want to err on the side of caution, so a little lower is better.

 

alright thanks for the help man i appreciate it...so bein unforged i have cast steel rods? n cast steel crank? n this website said the pistons were hypereutectic aluminum sorry idk what comes in these ls series motors....ive been workin on the early small blocks my whole life lol...n damn i had no clue they could take that...only reason im askin is cuz of the cam swap down the road...idk what kinda cam i wanna run, the rear gear and the stall...thats why im tryin to put all this info together lol
