I understand the guy who grinds the cam specs the valve springs.I see a lot of people take the for sure route and order parts that are way over speced.I would think patiot golds would do the job.I would be really curious to hear what your installed height is.

which patriots are you referring to? the .650 or the.660 doubles?

the manleys i currently have are 155@1.81 installed and 405@1.15 open.

very very similar to the patriot gold .660 lift doubles.

The 650's.I am also thinking your pushrods may be flexing causing the lifter to tap dance on the cam.Which side of the cam lobe is f-ed up the lift side or release?I am gonna guess the release or backside of the lobe.

I'd go with LS7 lifters. If they're good enough for sustained 7500 rpm use in the LS7, I'd trust them in my engine.

I just wanted to point out on the lifters that the caddy ones tend to experince alot of failures with the higher lift cams esspecially around the .600 lift mark. They were just not originally enginered for cams with that high of a lift. I believe somone pointed out that the cams they were running them with in the racing series never really went above .500 lift They were limited by class rules or something like that...

As far as the LS7 liffters, those are now the standard Lifter that I have been seeing in the newer engines that I have taken appart. They seem to work but there have been a few cases of them not working right out of the box... I had 2 brand new sets for an engine I was putting together and 2-3 of the rollers didnt feel right only after I put assembly lube on them... I discarded them and use some others... Later I played with the ones that didn't feel right and they seem to have a coating on them from the factory that was causing the needle bearings to stick or bind up inside may have possibley atrracted some sort of small debrey, Who knows.... Being new parts I just cleaned them buy hand with Fresh, Clean solvent and and assumed they would be fine. but after closer inspection and using WD40 and compressed air I was able to remove the coating and dislodge what ever was causing them to stick or bind up... I coated them with break in lube and they roll just fine with issue's now... This motor just has a mild low lift 265 comp cam. I am sure the LS7's will work just fine. I think to avoid any issues on my turbo motor I am going to spend the coin on the morel's to avoid any issue's at all.

I am not trying to discourage you or sway you one way or the other because I am just like every one else on here that does it them self. I just thought I would post my findings.

BTW, It sucks always beeing broke... But it sucks even worse when you get the wrong parts and they fail.... I hate learning the hard way...

i took an oil sample today and will mail it tomorrow to check iron content.

i am leaning toward the ls7 lifters. and for safety maybe ill have a cam made in the 224/230 .590 115 ballpark.

morels would be nice, but the extra coin.....ouch i just bought a ticket to australia....damn money tree stopped producing fruit

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but what is the difference between the Caddy and LS7 lifters? I have heard the Caddy ones are quieter, but why?
