Just changed the 706 heads on my 5.3 due to crack allowing coolant into the crankcase (thanks 2000 bigred for the tip) Anywho i noticed the bad head having a different casting number font style. Just wondering if anyone has noticed that their failed 706's have been with the same font as mine or if they are all junk.

The bottom head is the cracked one... with the taller straighter font.

Interesting observation. I have a cracked 706 that I am pulling off in a few days. I will snap some pics.

 

Bringing this one back up. Anybody else have cracked 706's that can take pics? I'm tryingto decide whether to have my heads worked or pick up some 243/799's. Would be nice to know whether or not I have castechs.

I remember seeing some pics around here of cracked Castechs(sp?)...might be able to find them by searching "Castech" or "706"
