Default Durability of "L33" 5.3

Hey guys I just recently bought a 05 GMC and saw it had the L33 engine. How is the reliablity compared to the Iron block 5.3's? Im talking at moderate to high HP? Thanks for your help fellas!

If 626/762 HP/TQ can be done on a stock bottom end then you might want to get a bigger engine.

The real question is how much Cash do you want to dish out?

I was looking for around 500-550. I Believe that is enough from a SB anymore than that easier and cheaper to build a big block.

When I get it up that high forged internals will be a must for me. My main concernes were the alloy block, just making sure it would be worth it to build or find a iron block to transplant. Thanks for all the replies guys

In my personal experience the L33 is one of those magic engines. I may have had all my ducks lined up, spot on tuning or a lot of luck, I don't know but I'll tell you what, with 575rwhp all the time and a bunch of runs with nitrous ontop I NEVER feared for the engine. She ran like a top and was always very very predictably reliable. Good economy highway to boot!

If it's what you have to work with 500hp is easy!

Bill you're lucky we are letting you stay in the club! Being that you still have a truck, albeit a 4 cylinder...I suppose we can let it slide

That 4cyl is a work horse! I haven't washed it in a month, got bird crap on it, muddy wheels, who cares! Sometimes having less is more
