I think that some of you are looking at some older threads. Take a look at this more recent thread on the 918s https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/1238202-new-style-918-springs.html.

I've been running the older 918s without problem, as have many others. As long as you respect the design valve lift limits and verify that you have enough clearance to avoid approaching coil bind, you should be fine. The PAC springs are excellent springs too from everything that I know. But the fact that some people have had trouble running the Comp 918s with cams pushing or exceeding valve lifts of .600 does not make them a bad spring. I would use them again without hesitation.

Yeah I never knew what the problem exactly was, thought I remembered something about a bad batch. Thanks though!

I remember seeing multiple threads with pics of busted silver springs on Tech, and I don't believe that the associated cams had extreme lift numbers either...it's enough that I'm spooked. When I build my LQ9 I'm planning a cam around 220/224 .575/.575 112, and I'm going to use the PAC 1218's.

When you can buy PAC 1218 springs for only $122.95, which is less than what you would pay for Comp 918 springs on Google Shopping, why is there any debate?
