Hey Guys, Not trying to hijack, but this is what mine is doing. Does it sound like this? This is on a cold start that has been idling for a few mins. Goes away after some RPM is added.

Not yet, but I'm over 2/3 of the way there. I was shooting for April, but it probably won't be until late April or even May...I will be driving my truck this summer though

Yup, mine sounds just like that!

Of course, once I made this thread, and I have my camera ready every time I start the truck, it doesn't make the tapping noise anymore, so I haven't been able to get a video of it.

That's not piston slap, sounds like a lifter, loose rocker, or even an exhaust leak...Piston slap is more of a dull sound while what I heard in the video was a distinct tick

Hey Bud,

it's definitly a "tick" sound. Also, would and exhuast leak got away after warm up?

DOA,

I did the "math" from your video. I counted ~68 ticks in 11 seconds

= 6.18 ticks/second
= 371 ticks/minute
or
= 371 revolutions(of whatever is making the noise)/minute

Now obviously the truck isn't idling at 371 RPM, probably more like double that (742 RPM). This tells me the noise is the valvetrian, which spins and half the speed as the crank shaft. Piston slap should tick once per revolution of the crank, while valvetrain should tick once per two revolutions of the crank.

Is this correct anyone?

Many times, yes. Let's say a header bolt is loose, and there's a non visible gap between the header gasket and head...the exhaust may escape and tick on a cold start, but as the engine warms up the metal will expand and close the gap. I've seen this commonly with cracked exhaust manifolds, but also experienced it with the headers on my old Camaro. It was distinctly ticking when cold, but diminished as the engine warmed up. A couple of cranks on the driver's rear header bolt and the noise was gone

Ok, thanks guys. The good news is I have new TFS heads and HS rockers and what not going on soon.

Now we just need the OP to video his noise and see If his sounds the same.
