Default Cheatr cam 5.3

I am thinking about putting the Thunder Racing Cheatr cam in because it makes power off idle. I still tow a little so I don't want to loose too much on the bottom. I was just curious what you all think of it. I could only find one other truck on the fourm using it and it seemed to make good power for the lower rpm ranges which is what I want.

So no thoughts on this cam? Does anyone know what kind of power it should make with Pacesetter lt, ory, cai, e-fans, and I am thinking about putting on that new Edelbrock XT LS intake with a ported tbss throttle body. The specs are 214/230 .629/.582 117 LSA. I see a few people running them in F-bodys and making pretty good power. Just wanted to know how a 5.3 would respond.

Personally, I'd go for a TR220 w/ YTT3000.

How much weight are you towing? What gears?

No more than 3500lbs. The truck sees alot of highway so I don't want to go too steep with the gears. It has 3.42's now.

cam should be decent. it would respond much better with a set of heads that would flow at that high of a lift.

I am running a 220 cam with a yank 3k converter and my truck make's a ton of low end power. Even though I do not tow with my truck, it would have no problem towing something that was only 3,500 lbs. I vote would go for the 220 cam. Plus I have one for sale. PM me if you are interested.

So if I did go with this cam a good set of heads and an intake and it should make good power.
