Default Is this cam too big???

I have an 05 silverado 5.3L. The motor is practically stock. The only upgrades are intake and LT headers. The next upgrades are going to be stall, cam and springs, and program computer, which all three will be done at the same time. I am looking at a stall at about 3000-3200. The truck will not be driven everyday. Probably once or twice a week max just about 3 miles round trip, in town only. I have been looking at the TR224, and really like it. What I've heard is that you find the cam that you like and go one step bigger. Is this right, and is this cam too big???

Comp 224/228 .581 /.588 @114
ls1-3722r /3724r hr114+1 grind no#
part no# 54-000-11

Let me know any opinions.....

Honestly I think you'd be be happiest with the tr224. It's a badass proven cam and it will sound nasty. That 224/228 is nice too and isn't much bigger but I'd run the tr224 out of the two. I run a 224/224 from comp

id go with the 224 if you're planning on a 3000-3200 converter.

You'll want the stall for sure. Maybe 3400-3600

Exactly. The theory that you should find out what you want and then go one size bigger definitely applies to converters more than cams in my opinion. I originally went with an ss3200 thinking it was enough and after 6 months I swapped to a ss3600 and it's great.

Dont listen to him Randem Hero, even with a 4000 stall, he still wont run a 4.3L on spray.
