Default cam suggestions.....come on in

ok, i am looking for a new cam for the ole 5.3l. current cam is a 00 Y body cam. it is fine but small and i know a bigger cam will yield more power.

i have pretty much all bolt on's. i have a set of 5.3 heads milled .035 with a 3 angle valve job and the vavles will be unshrouded before going on as well as cleaning he intake and exhaust ports. (currently not on the truck)

i will be using comp 918 springs. compression will be above 10.0/1 with stock gaskets. possibly 10.5/1 with thinner felpro.

i will be spraying nitrous. i don't have a problem getting the cam tuned with hpt. i also have a 3200 stall that will support a larger cam.

i want to get the most i can out of it. so what do the cam gurus have to offer.

Don't design the camshaft around nitrous.
I have a dyno graph of a 229/226 profile making 125rwhp on a 125shot. He did this with a cutout and midlength headers.

I'm willing to bet, you will not end up with a reverse split camshaft... LOL
So... I think it is VERY important that you don't add EVEN MORE exhaust bias to your camshaft because you'll be spraying. If you do, lower rpm power will decrease and power after peak hp will increase.

Just remember, if a 229/226 profile can support a 125jet then so can one of these profiles you will likely install.

Goshawk,
Would you let us in on the specs Allan recommends to you?
I'm a cam spec freak.
Thank you
