The new DART LS1 heads cleaned up even more than how they come from dart cast.
Lunati cause thats what the speed shop had that was really close to the specs I wanted so I went with it plus I got it for 280 brand new.

Those are some interesting lobes you chose.
Lunati 242* lobe compared to a XE-R, Comp lobe w/ 242* @ .05''
.006''-.050''-Lift
301*-242*-.595'' (Lunati)
291*-242*-.610'' (XE-R)
Dyno it, and see what happens. I'll be interested in the results.

I like the fact that it has a little bit more up top as far as duration goes for a little more top end. I actually called the speed shop to see if they could add a little more lift in but the cam had already been ground

It's a very slow lobe getting off the seat. I'd 'assume' the .200'' duration figures would be substantially less than the XE-Rs.
The XE-R 242 lobe has 163* of duration at .200''.
I like the idea of a lesser value at .006'' & .05'' and more duration at .200''. Usually this results in a higher lift but on the intake side... Your heads usually flow better here anyways. Get the valve to where it needs to be is how I look at it.
I'm looking at an intake lobe for my 5.3L and it specs to 216* of duration @ .05''. But, at .200'' it has as much duration as the TR220 lobe and .040'' more lift.

I personally use anything but Comp, just because how much they like their product.

Comp and Lunati focus more on top end horsepower. While Crane tends to focus on max TQ numbers. While both of these philosophies have their place in racing, Crane's focus on TQ tends to make for somewhat better street manners than a similar performing cam from Comp. Ling also has some very civilized cams, although I've never used any of their products. I've used two COmp cams in my truck, and I've ridden in buddies' cars/trucks that used other Cranes, Comps, Lingenfelters, Thunder, Lunatis etc. The Lunatis felt the lumpiest, and they weren't even the fastest on the specs. Crane and Comp are neck and neck at the drag strip from what I always saw. Cranes tend to be quicker off the line and Comps tend to be a tad quicker through the traps. As I mentioned, Crane's focus on maximum torque instead of max horsepower makes for a somewhat smoother idle and better street manners. Their cams never did make very impressive numbers what I saw them on the dyno. And I never see any cars or trucks that are running Lunatis.
