Im looking to cam my truck. I have a 4.8 silverado. Im looking for a choppy sounding cam but i dont wanna have to replace my torque converter or anything like that. I dont really know that much about cams so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A friend suggested this cam but idk if it would work with a stock converter. http://m.summitracing.com/parts/cca-54-530-11

Sdpc ht-1 cam. 214/218 duration 111 lsa. I have it in my 5.3 and it should chop a little more in your 4.8. I lost no low end and it pulls really good midrange and up top and I'm using my stock converter.

No I don't have never been on a dyno. I did cam long tubes and mail order tune all at once and it was a completely different truck. And it's on a mild tune due to I still have a bone stock 290,000 mile 4l60e. The ht-1 cam from sdpc is a comp cam but sdpc specs. There is a speedo video on YouTube of me Rollin into the throttle up to 100 mph if that helps

Here is a cam I spec'ed for a local guy with a 4.8L. It does really need a converter but he wanted one spec'ed for roll racing and for when he goes with a converter:

The HT-1 is quite a popular 4.8/5.3 cam. Low duration and a tight LSA helps to make power early in the rpm range where it is really need in small cube, heavy vehicle applications. The 111 LSA gives it a super aggressive idle, yet the 214/218 duration allows the cam work well with stock converter applications. We keep them in stock for $374.99 and can put a cam kit together with PAC 1218 springs and pushrods for $614.98.

Yeah I did a lot of searching before I pulled the trigger because it was my first cam swap and I wanted a choppy idle no loss of low end but pulls hard mid range and up top and I got everything I wanted. You said something about PAC springs... When I ordered the kit y'all said ls6 spring are fine and that what I went with. Should I change? Been running this setup about 25,000 miles no problem
