slow posted up a good how to, it will be a good read to get you ready.

Now their are allot of good cams available for our motors.
on most of these, your looking at a shopping list for:

LS6 or comp 918 springs.
7.4 push rods.

Now to take the list a step further, you will be pulling the timing case cover.
High flow oil pump.
Double roller timing chain.

LS6 spring is good for a lift of 550.
The comp 918 is needed for a lift of 551 to 600.
The lift on the cam will tell you witch spring you will need.

as far as the cam, do a cam search, many have posted a vid
So we could hear what their cam sounds like.
never know, the way you want your truck to sound
May have been posted already.

no you don't need to pull the heads.
the ZO6 is 551, 555, lsa 117.5 and it will have a stock idol.
but other cams are better for a NA 4.8 motor.
the ZO6 is good for boost.
