Default Cam on a DD??

Hey all, i am looking at a tr224/224 .563 112 lsa cam for my 03 5.3 sierra. It is a DD and i tow a 6x10 enclosed trailer every weekend. It is also drove in winters. Is this cam gonna be fine for what I need. It will occasionally be taken to the track to do some runs. More for having fun on the streets. just wanna make sure its not overkill. thanks

cory

It will work, but you will need a stall. Sounds like it is probably overkill for what you are wanting. I think you might be happier with something like a 212/218.

Also am i going to need a spring kit and pushrods. I dont think a stall will be in the near future. If anything a TB stall maybe if a good deal comes through.

I have that same size cam, except custom ground on XER lobes and on a 110LSA.

I drive my truck everyday and only have a tiny 2400 stall.

you don't HAVE to have a stall. I didn't for the first couple of months. but if you want it really fast at the track a stall will definetly help.

Yes you will need some springs and pushrods. I think you could get by with ls6 springs to save a little $$ but the 918 are a good choice too. Check the classifieds on here and LS1Tech, this size of cam, springs and pushrods come up for sale regularly and you can save a bunch over new.
