cam bearing question
#1
I know I know... if you look at the cam bearings they will be bad.... but as I began to try an pull the cam out, it felt as tho it was stuck in there. No damage to cam journals, no valve train in it, nothing I can visibly see holding it back. Once I finally removed the cam I saw this. This is in a VVT L92. Any ideas? Would yall run it or replace it?
Thanks,
Robert

When I rebuilt my "100kmi" LY6, the cam bearings (all that I could see clearly) looked exactly like that.
My engine builder told me to replace them, and we did.
I dont know what would have happened if I didnt. My 5.3 bearings didnt look like that when we put the LS9 cam in, so I dunno if its a gen4 thing or what.

If you’re running the same cam that you took out, I wouldn’t worry about changing them. If you’re planning on a new cam then I would replace them. Just what I would do. I’ve seen far worse cam bearings than that from stock motors that were still running g strong!
