Default Broken valve spring

Broke a valve spring.

Spring was the original ones that come on the edelbrock heads. LQ9 motor with a 224/224 56x/56x 110lsa cam. Any suggestions on what springs I should replace them with? Its been a while since Ive kept up with whats hot.

The new generation of Comp Cams 26918-16 seem pretty rock solid, very quiet and good for .600" lift. I've put 60k on mine without a hiccup. I'm running AFR duals at the momment and they are definetely a lot louder.

I guess thats true. I remember back when I built the motor, people said there were issues with the 918 springs. Does this still hold true?

Lots of the older ones broke. They revised them probably two years ago now. I think some people on ls1tech had those break too.

I had one of the ls6 springs break bout 2 years ago. Been running patriots since then and last known mileage was around 50k. Last month and with the old cam they saw 6800 at the track.

For a quite combo I'd go with the PAC 1218's on this one!
